Thunderbolts Debut Trailer Reveals First Look at Lewis Pullman’s Sentry
Marvel Studios has unveiled the debut trailer for Thunderbolts, marking it as the final film of Phase Five in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The asterisk in the title is intentional, though Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has yet to clarify its significanc
The trailer opens with Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova visiting her father, Red Guardian, portrayed by David Harbour, who is struggling with his current situation. Both characters seem dissatisfied with their circumstances and are in need of some excitement.
As the trailer unfolds, we witness the formation of this anti-hero team, featuring Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr / Ghost, and Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov / Taskmaster. The characters grapple with their roles while facing off against one another. Sebastian Stan returns as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier, who appears to take on a leadership role after initially clashing with the Thunderbolts.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus also makes an appearance as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who is presumably in charge of the Thunderbolts. The standout moment of the trailer is the first look at Lewis Pullman as Robert “Bob” Reynolds, aka Sentry, who seems taken aback by the unexpected arrival of his teammates.
Pullman, known for his role as Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd in Top Gun: Maverick, steps into the role of Sentry after Steven Yeun had to exit due to scheduling conflicts. Pullman has also appeared in films like Bad Times at the El Royale and the series Outer Range, and recently starred alongside Brie Larson in Apple’s Lessons in Chemistry.
Sentry is regarded as one of the most formidable superheroes in the Marvel Universe, yet he has had limited exposure outside of the comics, appearing mainly in mobile games like Marvel Puzzle Quest, Marvel Future Fight, and Marvel Snap. Fans are eager to see how this complex character is portrayed on the big screen.
